Ronald Pulfer Obituary

Ronald “Ron” H. Pulfer, age 86 of Port Jefferson, Ohio passed away peacefully at 11:57 a.m. on Tuesday, January 19, 2021.

Ron was born January 14, 1935 in Sidney, Ohio to the late Harley J. & Martha M, (Reed) Pulfer.   On June 9, 1956, Ron married Patricia “Pat” L (Boerger) Pulfer at St Michael’s Catholic Church in Fort Loramie.  They were married for 59 years.  Pat preceded him in death on March 11, 2015. 

 

Surviving are his children, Anthony R. Pulfer and Steven J. (Deborah) Pulfer, both of Sidney, Ohio; grandchildren, Nicholas S. Pulfer of Cleveland, Ohio; and Matthew R. Pulfer of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and sister, Jeannie (Ralph) Harmon of Wapakoneta, Ohio; and numerous other family members and friends.  Along with his wife & parents, he was preceded in death by a sister & brother-in-law, Carol (William) Neal and nephew Lloyd Marvin Jr.

Ron graduated from Sidney High School in 1952.  He was drafted into the United States Army in 1957 and spent 2 years serving his country in Germany.

 

Ron was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sidney, Knights of Columbus (Fourth Degree Member, former Grand Knight, & District Deputy), American Legion Post 335, Fort Loramie, former Member of Fort Loramie Chicken Fryers and numerous other civic organizations.  Ron was also one of the founding members of White Oak Lake, Fort Loramie.

Ron was a loving and dedicated husband, father, & grandfather.  Ron proudly followed his grandsons in their activities throughout their school years and continued to be very active & involved in their adult lives.        


Ron retired as a traffic superintendent from the Ohio Department of Transportation, District 7, Sidney, Ohio in 1995.  Previously, he had owned and operated Pulfer's Sohio Service Station that was located on the south side of Sidney for many years. 
 

In retirement, Ron enjoyed his time with family & friends, spending time in Florida and traveling to the National Parks.  Ron also enjoyed spending time with his White Oak Lake family, who were very special to him.  During the winter months, Ron spent time at his home in Florida. 

Ron was a devout Catholic with strong faith.  The family would like to receive friends but due to COVID 19 concerns there will be a private family viewing at Salm-McGill & Tangeman Funeral Home, Sidney, Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday January 23, 2021 at 10:00 am, at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Fr. Andrew Hess officiating.  Those that wish to attend Mass, are asked to wear a mask.  A private family burial will take place at Glen Cemetery, Port Jefferson.
