Robert Reck Obituary

Robert C. Reck, 76, 3535 St. Rt. 66, Houston, Ohio died at his residence on Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at 9:50 PM of natural causes. He was born September 28, 1928 in Piqua, Ohio the son of Robert B. and Eleanor J. (Jamison) Reck. They are deceased. He moved to Shelby County in July, 1970 from Strasburg, Pennsylvania. On October 1, 1955 he married Nancy Schmidt and she survives along with five children, Robert Bryan of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi; Beth Ann Hickerson and husband Tom of Gregory, Michigan; Virginia Lynn Andrews and husband Mark of La Porte, Indiana; John Eric of Piqua, Ohio; and Michael William and wife Deborah of Plattsville, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Cubberly, Christina Snyder, David Hickerson, Leyna Andrews, Patrick Andrews, Mersia Andrews, John Michael Reck and Joshua Kurt Reck; two step-grandchildren, Jeremy Wood and Jason Wood; one great-granddaughter, Mary Beth Cubberly. One sister survives, Carol Collins and husband Richard of Vandalia, Ohio. Mr. Reck was a graduate of Ohio State University with a Bachelor's Degree. He was in the United States Army, Army Corp. of Engineers in the Korean War. He had been the mammals curator from 1965-1970 at the Columbus Zoo in Columbus, Ohio and he retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation in Sidney in 1984 as an engineer for location and design. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, April 17, 2005 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Jim Manuel at the Houston Congregational Christian Church, Houston, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Wilson Hospice, 915 W. Michigan St., Sidney, Ohio 45365.
