Joline Aselage Obituary

Joline Elizabeth (Rohler) Aselage passed away peacefully on May 3, 2022.  She was born on October 16, 1930 in Sidney, Ohio, to Frank and Lucy (Peters) Rohler.   A child of the depression, Joline had fond childhood memories of helping her father in his meat market in Sidney.  A graduate of Holy Angels High School in Sidney, she was employed at the Sidney Grain Machine Company where she met her future husband John, who preceded her in death. John and Joline raised four boys, Larry (Judy) of Terre Haute, Indiana, Steve (Cindy) of South Bend, Indiana, Terry (Mary) of Cedar Crest, New Mexico, and Phil of Sidney, Ohio.  She is survived by her sons along with eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren who loved her dearly.

Joline was a faithful member of Holy Angels Catholic Church.  Avid bowlers, John and Joline bowled in the Kings and Queens league at the Sidney Holiday Lanes for many years.  Joline was a member of the Woman’s Bowling Hall of Fame.  She found great joy in playing (and beating her sons) at a variety of card games.  All of the children and grandchildren looked forward to the tasty pies and cookies she always prepared for the holidays.  She also enjoyed cheering the Notre Dame Football team on to victory with family and friends.

Joline worked for many years in the Shelby County Treasurer’s office, first under Treasurer Millard Jackson and then under Treasurer Gerald Billings.  When Gerald retired, Joline ran for and was elected to serve as Shelby County Treasurer.  She served several terms as Treasurer before retiring.

The family would like to thank Wilson Hospice Care for the tender care and support they provided to our mother, grandmother, and great grandmother in her final days.
