Obituary

Corliss (Red) E. Hinkle, 83, of Kenton, Ohio, passed away peacefully, on August 26, 2023, at Lima Memorial Hospital in Lima, Ohio. He was born February 9, 1940, in Sidney, Ohio, the son of Leroy and Katherine (Peters) Hinkle.

Corliss is survived by his five children, Russell Stemen of Bellefontaine, Ohio, Jean (Ron) Murphy of Sidney, Ohio, John (Hope) Konst of Akron, Ohio, James (Deborah) Earl of Lima, Ohio, Lavern Hinkle of Kansas City, along with four siblings, Elizabeth (Charley) Blue-Bottomfield, Melvin (Nancy- deceased) Hinkle, Virgil (Becky) Hinkle, and Mervel (Christine) Hinkle, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren, along with a special nieces and nephews Kelly (Carl) Richardson, Russ (Judy) Blue, and Rich (Lori) Baum who looked out for Corliss. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Katherine (Peters) Hinkle, one sister Charlotte Jones, sister in-law Nancy Hinkle, one brother-in-law Russell Blue, and two grandsons James Earl and Donaven Earl.

Corliss attended Quincy High School. Corliss worked as a trucker driver for many years before retiring. Corliss was a member of the Eagles in Kenton, Ohio.

In addition to Corliss’s work, he enjoyed watching NCIS, cops, FBI most wanted and international on TV, fishing, working on and fixing cars, flirting with women, and causing trouble, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, children, family, and friends.

Corliss was of the Baptist faith. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In keeping with Corliss’s wishes, he will be cremated, and a Celebration of Life for Corliss will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude PL, Memphis, TN 38105.
