Cheryl L. (Kennedy) Spinner, 78, of Sidney, Ohio, was called home to heaven on June 27, 2022, at Homestead Assisted Living in Van Wert, Ohio. She was born December 5, 1943, in Portsmouth, Ohio, the daughter of Oliver Collins and Florence Louise (Bernthold) Kennedy, who are deceased. On April 9, 1966 Cheryl married her beloved husband Scott who survives.
Cheryl was a loving and devoted mother to Susan (Neil) Ferencak, Sharon Spinner, Shawn Spinner, and Shane (Lisa Jaeger) Spinner and a doting grandmother to Andre’, Clare, Eli, and Brody, as well as several fur-grandkids. Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Collins and Louise, her brother Ronald, and her nephew Greg.
Cheryl was the valedictorian of Valley High School’s Class of 1961 in Lucasville, Ohio and earned her degree in Pharmacy from Ohio Northern University in 1966, where she was on the Dean’s List numerous times. She was a proud member of the marching band at both schools. Cheryl met Scott at ONU and they recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary. Cheryl dedicated the majority of her pharmacy career to Wilson Memorial Hospital, where she was known for her conscientious attention to detail and her mentorship of young pharmacists. She was a long time member of Sidney First United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir and participating in Dorena Circle. Cheryl enjoyed volunteering at Compassionate Care, FISH, and a mission trip to Haiti, but most of all she enjoyed watching her grandchildren, and spending time with her family. Cheryl will be missed by many.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 12:00 PM at Sidney First United Methodist Church (230 E. Poplar Street) with Pastor Jane Madden. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 AM until the time of service, with a reception immediately following the service in Fellowship Hall. Cheryl’s final resting place will be at Graceland Cemetery in Sidney, Ohio at a later date. Online condolences may be left for the Spinner family at www.salm-mcgillandtangemanfh.com. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Sidney First United Methodist Church, GIVE in Covington, Ohio (a church sponsored organization for free loaned medical equipment.), or Telocyte (a very promising genetic cure for Alzheimer’s) and given to the funeral home to be forwarded accordingly. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the nurses, aids, and staff at Homestead Assisted Living along with Ever Heart Hospice for all their help and care with Cheryl. Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home is honored to be taking care of the Spinner family.
