Carole Carruthers Obituary

Carole Anne (Roberts) Carruthers, 76, of Maplewood, Ohio, was called home to the lord on Tuesday August 31, 2021 at her residence. She was born on March 5, 1945 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Russell P Roberts and Evelyn (Doyle) Roberts, and both parents proceed her in death. On April 29th, 1967 Carole married Earl R. Carruthers at Alger United Methodist Church.

Carole is survived by her husband of 54 years, her four children Julie (Michael) Morris, Shelly (Peter) Davies, Jeremy (Irish) Carruthers and Andrew (Sherri Pugh) Carruthers; her grandchildren Sam, Noah and Ian Morris, Christian, Harker and Clementine Davies, and Russell Carruthers. Her sisters, Madeline Jordan and Maureen Lavorgne, numerous nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews also survive her.

Carole was a 1963 graduate of Alger High School and 1966 graduate of Northwestern Business School. Carole loved staying home with her four children and began a home cottage industry, Rams Horn Menagerie with her sister, Madeline. From this business she paid for her children to attend college.  Their degrees are one of her greatest accomplishments. With her children grown, she turned her interest to The Rehabilitation Center for Neurological Development and Nicholas School where she was employed for several years. She loved getting to know the clients and their families and continued to be in contact with them the remainder of her life.

Carole and her husband, Earl, were active members of Sidney First United Methodist Church for over 40 years. They were active members of their Sunday school class and Carole loved visiting those who weren’t able to attend. Much like her mother, Carole loved to garden and was an active member of the Rainbow Garden Club. Her gardens were featured in Gateway Arts Council’s 2010 Art in the Garden tour. Carole was a passionate supporter of Shelby County Right to Life and served with her time and talents.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 9th, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Sidney First United Methodist Church with Pastor Terry Sharp. Interment will follow at Glen Cemetery, Sidney.
