Carl Wermert, 75, Sidney, Ohio, passed away at his residence on Monday, November 27, 2017. He was born on February 28, 1942 in St. Sebastion, Ohio, the son of Joseph and Clara (Bertke) Wermert and they are deceased. On July 25, 1964, he married Rosemary Pohlman and she survives in Sidney along with a son, Craig (Nicole) Wermert of Lewis Center, Ohio and a brother, Virgil Wermert. He was preceded in death by two sons, Chris and Curt Wermert and four sisters, Evelyn Freishtler, Erma Barlage, Jeanette Doorley and Joann Wermert and a brother, Herbert Wermert and brother-in-laws, Homer Friesthler, Jerry Doorley and Joe Barlage and a sister-in-law, Viona Wermert. Carl retired from the Central Oil Asphalt Company as the sales manager and was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sidney. He was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus 659 and the Sidney American Legion. He was a United States Army National Guard veteran and a wonderful husband and father. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home in Sidney on Thursday, November 30, 2017 from 4-8 PM with the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree service at 7:30 PM with the 4th Degree Honor Guard present. Friends may also call on Friday, December 1, 2017 from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sidney, Ohio with Father David Zink and Father Frank Amberger. Burial will follow at Shelby Memory Gardens, Sidney, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the Knights of Columbus 659 or Holy Angels Catholic School Endowment Fund.
