Kwok Kong “Jimmy” Leong, 82, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on September 8, 2025, at Wilson Health in Sidney, Ohio.
Jimmy was born on September 14, 1942, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the son of Leong Man (father) and Toh Heng (mother). He was one of 11 children (two of whom died in infancy). He worked as a tailor at his family’s business, Leong Man Taylors, in Kuala Lumpur. Jimmy served in the peacekeeping force during the United Nations Operation in the Congo (UNOC) in the 1960s. He immigrated to the United States of America in 1976 and received his citizenship on March 4, 1982.
Jimmy settled in Sidney, Ohio, where he raised four children with his loving wife, Pamela. He worked as a machinist at various local industries, including LeROI and Baumfolder. Jimmy was a kind soul who made friends wherever he went. His jokiness and humor are what those closest to him will always remember. He loved to talk to Mother Mary and Jesus and all the saints, especially Saint Jude, in the family’s Schoenstatt home shrine, “Heart Speaks to Heart.” He passed away on Mother Mary’s birth date.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Pamela Luttner Leong; his children, Mei (Anthony) Knowlton, Michelle (Michael Bravo) Leong, Catherine Leong, and Ronald Leong; his grandchildren, Nichole (Brian) Walker and Sarah Knowlton; his great-grandchildren, Zooey Walker and Everett Walker; his siblings, Leong Swee Cheng (sister), Leong Swee Chan (sister), Leong Kok Kee (brother), Leong Kok Keong (brother), and Leong Swee Ying (sister); and several extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leong Man and Toh Heng; and his siblings, Leong Kok Cho (brother), Leong Swee Chee (sister), and Leong Kok Weng (brother).
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Visitation will be held prior to Mass from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Salm-McGill & Tangeman Funeral Home in Sidney. Salm-McGill & Tangeman Funeral Home is honored to serve the Leong family.
