John T. Hammer Jr.

John T. Hammer Jr., 66, of Sidney, passed away at Kettering Health - Dayton, on Sunday, October 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 18, 1959, to the late John T. Hammer Sr., and Carol Ann (Michael) Hammer, which both passed away on December 5, 2020. 

John was married to Theresa "Terry" Hammer and she survives in Sidney, along with 2 step-daughters; Melissa Griffith, and Jennifer Beck. John had 5 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild, as well as 3 brothers – Mike Hammer, Darrin (Janet) Hammer, and Bruce (Teresa) Hammer, and one sister – Brenda Hughes. 

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Jerry Hughes. John was a volunteer firefighter for 18 years with Lockington Fire Department, Shelby County Fire, and Port Jefferson Fire Department. He was a professional truck driver, and was the owner and operator of a tree service. He dearly loved his family and friends, and was an artist that enjoyed crafting shelves, and creating new recipes and cooking. 

A visitation will be held on Friday – October 17, 2025, from 5 PM – 8 PM, at Salm – McGill & Tangeman Funeral Home – Sidney. Salm – McGill & Tangeman Funeral Home is honored to serve the Hammer Family.
