Janice Lynn

Janice “Jan” E. Lynn, 81, passed away Friday, July 24, 2026. She was born on April 9, 1945, in Providence, Rhode Island to the late Arthur and Miriam (Anthony) Bligh. She married Richard Lynn on November 28, 1976, in Sidney, who preceded her in death on June 2, 1999.

Survived by her daughters: Teresa (Chris) LeFever and Diana (Tim) Schutte; her grandchildren: Amber (Adam) LeFever Soboleski, Devon (Soleil) LeFever, Danielle (Haley) Murphy, Veronica (Ian) Baker, Elizabeth (Joe) Huffman Saunders, and Patricia (Bruce Mees) Huffman as well fourteen great-grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by (5) stepchildren: Ricardo (Roby) Lynn, Terri (Shirley) Lynn, Kim Schweitzer, Mike Lynn, and Pam Lynn with additional grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her sisters: Judy (Ole) Lund, Nancy (Richie) Bligh-Leach, Doris Farrell-Goldworm, and Carolyn Marold; Brothers: Roy Cahill, and Robert Bligh, and Sister-in-law: Virginia (Ambrose) Klecker.

Born and raised in Rhode Island, Jan loved spending the summers at the family beach house at Buttonwoods in Warwick. She loved to dig for clams and quahogs and passed the love of the ocean on to her children and grandchildren. Jan and her husband Dick were avid bingo players and enjoyed traveling the United States in their camper. Jan was extremely proud of her gardening of berries and vegetables, but definitely grew weeds the best (at which she spent hours every summer cleaning and trimming her yard!) After becoming widowed, Jan spent most of her time watching the birds and squirrels that she fed every day while doing her word search puzzles on her front porch. She loved people and never met a stranger. After moving to Sidney from Rhode Island, Jan became a member of Sidney First Methodist Church, in 1963.  She is greatly missed and loved.

A private graveside service will be held at the Shelby Memorial Gardens. Services are in the care of Salm - McGill & Tangeman Funeral Home - Sidney.
