James “Jimmy” (also affectionately known as “Jeff”) Sexauer, age 67, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, October 25, 2025. Though his departure was sudden, the life he lived was full — marked by laughter, loyalty, and love that reached far beyond measure.
Born on January 1, 1958, in Newark, New Jersey, Jimmy was a New Year’s Day baby whose arrival seemed to carry with it a spark of joy and celebration. He was the beloved son of Raymond A. and Angela Rose (Sekas) Sexauer, both of whom preceded him in death.
Jimmy is survived by his sister, Rebecca Sexauer of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, and his brother, Ray Sexauer of Pompano Beach, Florida. Though he had no children of his own, he cherished his role as godfather to Katie Casares, daughter of his dear friends Rick and Luann Hockaday — a bond he held close to his heart.
A 1976 graduate of Minster High School, Jimmy began his career with Wagner Manufacturing, where he worked faithfully from 1976 to 1990. He then went on to serve three decades with Honda Manufacturing in Anna, Ohio — a place where his steady work ethic, good humor, and easy camaraderie earned him lasting friendships. He retired in 2020, having left his mark not only on the company but on countless coworkers who knew him as both dependable and kind.
Jimmy lived life with passion and heart. He loved deeply and laughed freely. His joy could fill a room — whether he was swapping stories with friends at the Moose, Al’s Pizza, or Applebee’s, or cheering on his beloved New York Yankees. He was a true music lover — from rock ’n’ roll to heavy metal, from classic guitars to live concerts — finding in music the same energy and rhythm that pulsed through his own life. He was the kind of man who made ordinary moments memorable — a loyal friend, a generous spirit, and someone who reminded those around him to take life as it comes and enjoy the ride.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 7, at Salm–McGill & Tangeman Funeral Home, 502 S. Ohio Avenue, Sidney, Ohio. Visitation will take place from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., with a service to follow at 4:30 p.m., officiated by Rev. DiAnne Karas.
Though Jimmy’s life on earth has ended, his laughter, kindness, and music-loving spirit will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew him.
