John Lloyd Preston

John Lloyd Preston, 83, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2015 at 10:10 PM at Fair Haven Shelby County Home, 2901 Fair Rd., Sidney, Ohio. He was born August 6, 1932 in Kermit, West Virginia the son of James and Stella (Patrick) Preston and they are deceased. He was married at Randolph Air Force Base, Texas on August 27, 1955 to Iva L. Stengel and she passed away in 1982. Mr. Preston moved to Shelby County in 1972 from Xenia, Ohio. Surviving are four children, Linda Preston of Cincinnati, Ohio, Teresa Donn and husband Thomas of Greenville, South Carolina, John David Preston and wife Lu Ann of Sidney, Ohio and Robert (Bob) Lloyd Preston and wife Andrea of Cummins, Georgia and two brothers, Bill Preston and wife Dorothy of Potomac, Maryland and James Preston and wife Boots of Williamson, West Virginia, nine grandchildren, Rachelle Cary, Danielle Graham, Kate Mannella, Jonathon Wylie, Elizabeth Wylie, Morganne Shobe, Evan Preston, Bethany Leiton and Mallory Donn and three great-grandchildren. He was a graduate of Wright State University with a Bachelors Degree in Vocational Rehabilitation in 1975. He was a farmer and equipment operator at Wright Patt in Dayton, Ohio. He was a Sargeant in the Air Force and decorated Vietnam War veteran and a Korean War Veteran. He was in the military for twenty years. He was the captain of the 1950 Kermit Class A basketball team that was state runner-up. To know him is to love him. He was a dedicated husband and father and grandfather. He loved sport and farming. He was of the Protestant faith with the Christian church. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Pearl Cemetery, Swanders, Ohio with the son, John David Preston and the grandson, Jonathon Wylie. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home on Friday, November 27, 2015 from 6-8 PM.
