William Gauntt Obituary

William A. Gauntt, 84, 701 Bennett Circle, Sidney, Ohio died at Wilson Memorial Hospital on Monday, August 8, 2011 at 4:13 AM. He was born November 21, 1926 in New Brunswick, New Jersey the son of Edwin A. and Gertrude (Heim) Gauntt and they are deceased. He was married to Frances Anne Allgaier at the Presbyterian Church in Potsdam, New York on June 30, 1951. She survives in Sidney along with three children, Timothy Gauntt of Eclectic, Alabama; Drucilla Patnode of Flowery Branch, Georgia and Mike Gauntt of Surprise, Arizona; six grandchildren; one sister, Anne Maetozo of St. Augustine, Florida. One brother, Robert Gauntt is deceased. Mr. Gauntt played basketball and football in high school and college. He was in the state basketball finals in high school in 1945. He was a 1951 graduate of Rutgers University in New Jersey with a Bachelor's Degree in Dairy Science. He was inducted in the Hall of Fame at Rutgers University. Mr. Gauntt was a United States Army Air Corp. veteran. He had lived in many places in the United States including Texas, New York and many places in Ohio. He spent the winter in Arizona. He had worked at Provico in Botkins, Ohio for many years as the director of nutrition and research. His was the mayor of Botkins at one time. He was very active in the Botkins Kiwanis Club in the past and also served as lieutenant governor of Kiwanis. He was in the SCORE group which was the service corp. of retired executives; played golf on Monday's with the Senior Swingers at Shelby Oaks Country Club and was also a member of the Shelby Oaks Country Club. He was a member of the Shelby County Senior Citizens in Sidney. He was active at Dorothy Love Retirement Community, Sidney. He had taken professional voice lessons for nine years. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Botkins, Ohio where he sang in the choir and was of the Quaker faith. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the Dorothy Love Amos Chapel, 3003 W. Cisco Rd., Sidney, Ohio. Burial will be at a later date at Springfield Township Cemetery, Burlington County, New Jersey. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Dorothy Love Life Care Fund, 3003 W.
