William Fry Obituary

William J. Fry, 85, 702 Bennett Circle, Sidney, Ohio died at Wilson Memorial Hospital on Monday, March 7, 2011 at 2:13 AM. He was born December 11, 1925 in Lewistown, Pennsylvania to William C. and Ethel M. (McCurry) Fry and they are deceased. He was married on May 15, 1949 to Miriam Heeter and she survives along with one daughter, Bobbie Anne Fry of Portage, Michigan. Mr. Fry was a 1943 graduate of Burham, Pennsylvania High School and then entered the United States Navy Reserves from 1943 to 1946. He went to Cornell University and was a 1948 graduate of Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering. He worked in the steel industry and also the automative and refrigeration industry and retired from management from the Copeland Corporation in Sidney in 1989 after 30 years of employment. He was a member of the Sidney First Presbyterian Church where he had been a deacon, elder and church trustee. He was a lifetime member of the Elks, American Legion, supporter and active Sidney-Shelby County YMCA member and active Wilson Hospital Foundation member. He had been a long time member of the Sunset Sidney Kiwanis Club and current member of the Sidney Noon Kiwanis club. He enjoyed golf and bowling. He was a substitute teacher for the Shelby County Schools and a longtime AARP instructor. He was also on the Area Aging Advisory Council. He was a former City of Sidney councilman, Clinton township trustee and a volunteer mediator with Sidney Municipal Court. A memorial service will be held at Dorothy Love Retirement Community, Amos Chapel, 3003 W. Cisco Rd., Sidney, Ohio on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 2:00 PM. Interment will be at a later date at Graceland Cemetery, Sidney. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dorothy Love Life Care Fund, 3003 W. Cisco Rd., Sidney, Ohio 45365. Envelopes will also be available at the memorial service. Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home in Sidney is handling the funeral arrangements.
