Vernon Louis Holthaus, 59, 11644 Wones Rd., Maplewood, Ohio died at his residence on Monday, March 3, 2008. He was born February 3, 1949 in Sidney, Ohio the son of Clement and Martha (Steinke) Holthaus and they are deceased. He was married on May 6, 2006 to Marcia Fogt and she survives along with two children, Stephen Louis Holthaus of Sidney, Ohio and Shaun Leo Holthaus of Lancaster, Ohio and three step children, Renee Wick and husband Tim of Pasco, Ohio; Brian Michael Richmond of Quincy, Ohio and Jessica Lynn Drees and husband Josh of Sidney, Ohio; two grandchildren and one step-grandchild; five brothers, Joe and wife Fran Holthaus of Sidney; Michael and wife Mary Holthaus of Sidney; James and wife Debra Holthaus of Sidney; David and wife Gloria Holthaus of Sidney and Clem and wife Kelly Holthaus of Baltimore, Maryland; two sisters, Teresa and husband Glen DeLand of Sidney and Barbara and husband James Mentges of Sidney. He was a 1968 graduate of Holy Angels School in Sidney and was in the United States Army. He was a member of Ft. Loramie American Legion Post 355, Fort Loramie, Ohio and a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, Sidney. He had worked at Stolle Corp. for 25 years and was currently working at Ferguson Construction Company in Sidney as a concrete carpenter. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 7, 2008 at 10:30 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Rev. Gerald Bensman. Burial will be at Glen Cemetery, Port Jefferson, Ohio. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home on Thursday, March 6, 2008 from 6-8 PM. An American Legion service will be held at the funeral home with the Ft. Loramie Post 355 Legion at 7:45 PM on Thursday, March 6, 2008. Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Angels Endowment Fund, 324 S. Ohio Ave., Sidney, Ohio 45365. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.
