Robert Eugene Sayre Sr., 80, 4726 East St. 29, Sidney, Ohio died at his residence on Sunday, January 13, 2013. He was born April 9, 1932 in Sidney, Ohio to Gorman and Anna (Elson)Sayre and they preceded him in death. He is survived by a daughter, Valerie Hilgefort of Sidney; two sons, Robert Sayre Jr. and his wife Kathy of Maplewood, Ohio and Richard Sayre and his wife Sherry of Port Jefferson, Ohio; three stepchildren, James Lee Johnson and his wife Eileen of Michigan, Penny Wolfe and her husband Mark of Sidney, Ohio and Wanda Gurdo and her husband Art of New York and one sister, Shirley Poe of Tennessee, twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. One grandson, Timothy Spradlin Jr. is deceased. Mr. Sayre was a 1950 graduate of Sidney High School. He was a Korean War Navy veteran. He had been employed for many years as a truck driver for Copeland Corporation and Rising Sun Express. He was an avid Sprint car fan, late model car fan and was a wrecker driver for Eldora Speedway and Lima Land. Private memorial services will be held at a later date. There are no calling hours. Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home in Sidney is handling the funeral arrangements.
