Robert Clay Born, 81, of Sidney, Ohio, passed away at the Fair Haven Shelby County Home, Sidney, Ohio on Monday, May 29, 2017 at 8:14 PM after a short illness. He was born March 2, 1936 in Sidney, Ohio the son of James L. and Catherine (Kloecker) Born and they are deceased. He was married to Janet Maier on April 23, 1960 and she survives along with a daughter, Holly Page and husband Albert of Sidney, Ohio and two sons, Jason and Thomas Born of Sidney, Ohio; two grandchildren, Laura Spalding and husband James of Georgetown, Indiana and John Van Fossen and wife Alana of Columbus, Ohio and one great granddaughter, Nora Van Fossen of Columbus, Ohio. Five sister and brother-in-laws are deceased, Mary Jones and husband Urban Jones, Joan Larger and husband Bob Larger, Virginia Pownell and husband Wayner Pownell, Catherine Clark and husband Bill Clark, and Dorothy Hanaway and husband Jim Hanaway and three brothers and sister-in-laws are deceased, Bud Born and wife Harriett Born, Jim Born and wife Shirley Born and Don Born and wife Cindy Born. He was a 1954 graduate of Sidney High School and also attended Sinclair College for two years. He was a United States Army veteran from 1954 to 1956. He had worked at Copeland Corporation in Sidney for many years as a designer. He was a member of the Sidney American Legion and the Sidney AMVETS and the Sidney-Shelby County Senior Center in Sidney. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 2, 2017 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sidney at 10:30 AM with Rev. Frank Amberger. Burial with full military honors will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Sidney. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home in Sidney on Thursday, June 1, 2017 from 4-7 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Angels Catholic Church, Sidney, Ohio and the Sidney-Shelby County Senior Center in Sidney. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
