Norbert John Gelhaus

Norbert John Gelhaus, 85, 2115 Wapakoneta Ave., Sidney, Ohio died at the Highbanks Care Center in West Worthington, Ohio on Sunday, September 19, 2010 at 7:00 PM. He was born January 23, 1925 in St. Henry, Ohio the son of Henry and Philomena (Kramer) Gelhaus and they are deceased. He moved to Shelby County in 1962. He was married on February 18, 1950 to Margaret 'Peggy' Wangler and she died April 16, 2010. Mr. Gelhaus was a graduate of St. Henry High School and served in the Army in World War II. He retired as a lines engineer from Dayton Power and Light Company. He enjoyed ballroom dancing, RV travel and his grandchildren. He is survived and will be missed by two daughters, Diane Gasaway and husband Kim of Los Angeles, California and Maria Hodge and husband Michael of Dublin, Ohio and five grandchildren, Mya, Malia and Miles Hodge and Drew Gasaway and Beth Gasaway Hoos and husband Kevin. Also surviving are two sisters, Mary Gelhaus Herb and Lucille Gelhaus Ramey. Three brothers, Herbert, Ed and Ralph Gelhaus and two sisters, Anne Gelhaus and Gertrude Gelhaus Schaab are deceased. He was a member of the Sidney American Legion for many years and a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sidney. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 24, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Rev. Jason Bedel. Burial will be at St. Henry Cemetery in St. Henry with full military. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home in Sidney from 8:30 AM until 10:15 AM on Friday, September 24, 2010.
