Nancy Reck Obituary

Nancy Ruth (Schmidt) Reck, 82, Houston, Ohio passed away on June 3, 2016 of natural causes.   Nancy was born in Reading, Ohio on March 8, 1934 to the late Kurt and Mary Schmidt.   Nancy graduated from Lockland High School in 1952 and went on to further her education by attending Ohio State University and Littleford-Nelson Business School.   Nancy married Robert Clark Reck of Piqua, Ohio on October 1, 1955.   Preceding Nancy in death were her brother Carl, her husband Robert and eldest child, Bryan.   Nancy was a devoted wife and dedicated homemaker.   Nancy was a fantastic cook, having cooked for the Spot in Piqua, Ohio, the Johnston Farm in Piqua, Ohio and Camp Evergreen in Houston (Dawson) Ohio.   Nancy spent several years as a 4-H advisor and especially loved to help the “girls” in her club with sewing.   Nancy was a spectacular quilter and could often be found working on several quilts at a time.   Nancy was an animal lover through and through and absolutely loved her cats and dogs.   Nancy will be dearly missed by her surviving children, Beth (Tom) Hickerson, Ginny (Mark) Andres, Eric Reck, Mike (Deb) Reck; grandchildren, Jennifer Cubberly, Christina Hickerson, David Hickerson, Leyna Andrews, Patrick Andrews, Merisa Andrews, John Reck, Josh Reck, Jeremy Wood, Jason Wood; great grandchildren, Mary and Kaleb Cubberly, Eleanor Snyder, Katie Short and Gabe Wood.   Per her request, Nancy was cremated through Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home in Sidney, Ohio.   The family would like to extend a very special thank-you to Darla (Dan) Boyer who not only helped care for Mom during the last weeks of her life but also was there to talk to her and comfort her.   We also want to thank those with the Fidelity Health Care Group out of Troy, Ohio and UVMC hospice for their compassionate care.   A memorial service will be held July 2, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Houston Congregational Church, Houston, Ohio with lunch to follow.   Please feel free to dress casually.    Condolences may be expressed to the Reck family on Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home’s web site at:   www.salm-mcgillandtangemanfh.com
