Matthew "Charlie" Bernardi, 67, 2701 Wapakoneta Ave., Sidney, Ohio died at his residence on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at 7:35 AM. He was born January 6, 1942 in Sidney, Ohio the son of John and Anna (Gilardi) Bernardi and they are deceased. He was married on April 30, 1983 to Betty Jean Williamson and she survives along with ten children, Anna Bernardi of Webster, Massachusetts, Matt and Janice Berardi of Sidney, Ohio, Mark and Jessica Johnson of Nashville, Indiana, John and Jennifer Bernardi of Sidney, Ohio, Jerome and Michelle Bernardi of St. Paris, Ohio, Chris Bernardi and special friend Connie of Springfield, Ohio, Tiana and Anthony Latimer of Sidney, Ohio, Lee and Karen Tingley of Sidney, Ohio, Laura and Roger Triplett of Lima, Ohio, and Matthew Tingley of Sidney, Ohio; 27 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. One brother, James Bernardi and one son, Jerome Dominic are deceased. He was a 1960 graduate of Holy Angels High School in Sidney. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and also enjoyed flea markets and camping. He was in the Sidney Iutis Club for 25 years and a leader with the Boy Scouts for 25 years and was named to the Hall of Fame in the Boy Scouts. He had worked at Miller Meteor in Piqua for 25 years and Thermoseal in Sidney for 20 years. He was a member of the Jehovah Witnesses in Sidney and was a Bible student of Jehovah Witness. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home with Terry Mitchell officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, Sidney, Ohio at a later date. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home on Friday, November 13, 2009 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and on Saturday at the funeral home from 9:00 AM until the hour of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Betty Bernardi to help with funeral expenses. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
