Mary Margaret Adams

Mary Margaret Adams, 97, formerly of 2441 Collins Ave., Sidney, Ohio died on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan, Kansas. Mary was born March 12, 1914 in Findlay, Ohio the daughter of the late Frank and Rose Belle (Athey) Fetzer. She grew up in Celina, Ohio, working in her parent's grocery/restaurant business and also the J.C. Penney Store in Celina as a clerk. She graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in 1932. In 1946, she married the late Clifford F. Adams Sr. in Celina who preceded her in death in 1976. After she was married, she became a homemaker and mother of four children. Survivors include Frank (Beryl) Adams of Manhattan, Kansas; Clifford F. (Penny) Adams Jr. of Pearland, Texas; Maggie Wiley (the late Harold Wiley) of Sidney and (Mary) Jane Adams of Sidney. Additional survivors include 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. There are also 4 step-grandchildren and 9 step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a half brother, one sister, one granddaughter and her cousin, Mary Bensman, who was raised as a foster sister with Mary. Mary was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and the Sacred Heart Altar Society. She was also a member of the Sidney American Legion Auxiliary Unit 217 in Sidney. The joy of Mary's life were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 10:30 AM at the Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Chapel at Lehman Catholic High School in Sidney, Ohio. Burial will follow at Shelby Memory Gardens, Sidney. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home in Sidney on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 from 6-8 PM. The American Legion Auxiliary will hold a memorial service at the funeral home at 7:45 PM. In keeping with Mary's wishes, memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Angels Church Building Fund, 324 South Ohio Ave., Sidney, Ohio 45365 or Fish of Shelby County.
