Margot (Barthel) Schneider, 74, of Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Minster, Ohio died at 10:25 PM on Monday, January 18, 2010 where she had been a resident for 15 years. She previously lived at 1104 North Main Avenue, Sidney. She was born November 28, 1935 in Dietzenbach, Germany. She was the daughter of M. Franz Barthel II and Luise (Zimmer) Barthel, whom preceded her in death. She was also the step-daughter of Margareta Sattler, Heusenstamm, Germany, who survives her. She was previously married to Gerald W. Schneider on September 15, 1956. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara L. (Roger N.) Stueve of Minster; Bruce A. Schneider of Sidney; and Brian W. (Michelle D.) Schneider of Sidney; her grandchildren, Ryan J. Stueve, and Christian M. Stueve of Minster, and Alexa M. Schneider and fianc Bradley J. Evans of Piqua, and Abigail L. Schneider of Sidney. Also, brothers-in-law, Paul Shook of South Carolina, and Richard (Marjorie) Schneider of Colorado, and sisters-in-law, Jean Couchot of Newport, and Shirley (Marvin) Fogt of North Carolina. Mrs. Schneider immigrated to the United States from Germany in 1956. She was a dedicated and meticulous homemaker, mother, and grandmother. Known to many as the "German Lady", she had a unique talent for being able to grow the most beautiful flowers and plants, was a wonderful cook, and had an uncanny ability to befriend any dog she encountered. She took great pride in her home and family. She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sidney. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Rev. Dan Schmitmeyer. Burial will be at Pearl Cemetery, Swanders, Ohio. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home from 6-8 PM on Thursday, January 21, 2010 from 6-8 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Angels Endowment Fund, 324 S. Ohio Ave., Sidney, Ohio 45365. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.
