Lester H. Kinninger

Lester H. Kinninger, 83, 17467 Gearhart Rd., Sidney, Ohio, died at St. Rita's Hospital, Lima, Ohio on Friday, November 21, 2003 at 2:05 PM after a short illness. He was born September 30, 1920 in Ft. Loramie, Ohio the sone of Leo and Caroline (Watercutter) Kinninger. He was married May 11, 1946 to Mildred R. Geise and she died September 12, 2002. Surviving are three children, Sharon Kerber and her husband Bill of Sidney, Ohio; Jane Grogean and her husband Larry of Russia, Ohio; and Kristi Marcum and her husband Mark of Sidney, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Julie, Nathan, Nicole and Eric Kerber; Alisha Gross; Aaron and Autumn Hacker; Lance and Leslie Vonderhuevel and two step-grandchildren, Pam and Katie Grogean; two great-grandchildren, Zachary and Jacob Gross. One daughter is deceased, Donna Vonderhuevel, two grandchildren, Thomas and Derrick Marcum, two brothers, Andrew Kinninger and Bernard Kinninger and three sisters, Edna Reineke, Kate Geise, and Esther Ruppert are all deceased. He was a World War II veteran - Army Air Corp. He was awarded the American Theatre ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre ribbon with a bronze star; good conduct ribbon; World War II Victory Medal and was in the 41st Photo Reconnaissance Squadron. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion and the VFW all in Sidney. He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, Sidney. He was a farmer and had worked at Peerless Bread Company before the service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2003 at 10:30 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Rev. Earl Fernandes. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, Sidney, Ohio with full military honors. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home on Monday, November 24, 2003 from 2-8 PM. A Knights of Columbus service will be held at the funeral home at 4:00 PM on Monday and an American Legion service will be held at the funeral home at 7:45 PM on Monday.
