Lauris McMartin Obituary

Lauris A. McMartin, 88, died at the Pavilion Nursing Home, 705 Fulton St., Sidney, Ohio on Friday, October 5, 2012 at 7:30 PM. He was born on July 25, 1924 in Rennselear Falls, New York, the son of Clinton and Ruby (Bell) McMartin and they preceded him in death. He was married on September 7, 1952 to Edith Ellis and she died on June 27, 2004. Mr. McMartin moved to Shelby County in 1953. Surviving is a daughter, Deb Lewis of Columbus, Ohio and a son, Lee McMartin and wife Christine of Sidney; three sisters, Thelma Wise of Port Jefferson, Ohio, Jean Hand of Reno Nevada and Barbara Darrough of Oklahoma and a brother, Edward McMartin of Sidney; a grandson, Ryan McMartin and his wife Crystal of Sidney and two great-grandchildren, Caleb and Tyler McMartin. A sister, Mary Copeland and two brothers, Neil McMartin and Bill McMartin are deceased. Mr. McMartin worked at the Stolle Corporation in Sidney for 38 years in the maintainance department. He was a United States Army veteran and received the Purple Heart. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 from 4-7 PM. As per the deceased request, the body will be cremated following the visitation at the funeral home.
