Kip W. Hammer

Kip W. Hammer, 65, Sidney Care Center, 510 Buckeye Ave., Sidney, Ohio, went to be with the Lord with his family by his side on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 6:45 AM at the nursing home. He was born June 7, 1946 in Sidney, Ohio the son of Robert and Wilma (Scholl) Hammer. The father survives in Sidney and the mother is deceased. He was married to Marcella Marie Curl on July 1, 1967 and she survives in Sidney along with two sons, Frederick Eugene and wife Amy of Sidney and Timothy Wayne and wife Michele of Sidney; one sister, Kathleen Ferguson of Sidney and three brothers, William Hammer of Sidney, John Hammer and wife Carol of Sidney, and Joseph Hammer and wife Bell of Sidney and five grandchildren, Dayla, Jazmin, Ferrara, Sierra and Dez' Anae Hammer. One brother, George Hammer, one grandchild, Mika Hammer and his beloved dog, Sandy are deceased. He attended Sidney High School. He worked at the former Sidney Holiday Inn in Sidney in utility maintainance for 30 years. He was active in the St. Jude's Bicycle Marathon, was an avid fisherman and liked to tinker with cars. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 11, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home in Sidney with Pastor Robert L. Fries. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Sidney. Pallbearers will be William Slusser, Mike Hammer, Fred Hammer, Devon Beer, Matt Partington and Steve Slusser. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home on Thursday, May 10, 2012 from 4-8 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
