John B. Foote, 80, 2730 Fairview Ct., Troy, Ohio formerly of Sidney, Ohio died at his residence on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 6:55 AM. He was born on January 18, 1929 in Anna, Ohio the son of Burt and Augusta (Turner) Foote and they are deceased. He married Margaret (Cuneo) Phillips in 1994 and she survives along with six children, Marcia and husband John Lane of Cincinnati, Ohio; John B. Foote IV and wife Cindy of Troy, Ohio; Melissa C. Foote and significant other, Thomas Jakubk of Oakland, California; Cynthia Weaver and husband Jeff of Troy, Ohio; Steven Foote and wife Emily of Troy, Ohio and Susan Ashcraft and husband Vince of Piqua, Ohio; four step-children, Carrie Pittl and husband Bill of Troy, Ohio; Mark Phillips and wife Robin of Xenia, Ohio; Douglas Phillips of Troy, Ohio; David Phillips and wife Louisa of Germantown, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren, 3 step-great grandchildren; two sisters, Inez Woodell of Sidney, Ohio and Jeanette Dahlgren of Flint, Michigan; one sister, Vida Nelson is deceased. He was a 1947 graduate of Anna High School, Anna, Ohio. He was a Korean War Army veteran from 1951-1953 and was an Army combat engineer. He was a past member of Sidney Noon Kiwanis, life member of the Sidney American Legion, past member of the Sidney Eagles and the Sidney Elks. He was a past member of the Anna Methodist Church, Anna, Ohio and a past member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sidney. He had been the owner of C. L. Werst Priting Company in Sidney, Ohio for many years and also worked for the Dayton Daily news in Dayton, Ohio retiring in 1995. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home in Sidney. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home on Wednesday, from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service. Burial will be at Cedar Point Cemetery, Pasco, Ohio with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association of Ohio, Regional Processing Center, 226 State Route 61 East, Norwalk, Ohio 44857-9705. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.
