Jean Schemmel Obituary

Jean R. Schemmel, 88, Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Minster, Ohio died at the St. Mary's Joint Township Hospital on Saturday, August 14, 2004 at 12:55 PM. She was born on December 8, 1915 in Leetonia, Ohio the daughter of Robert A. and Deana (Krause) Crothers and they are deceased. She married Harry A. Schemmel on November 17, 1938 and he survives along with two children, Gene Schemmel and his wife Karen of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Sally Baumer and her husband Stan of Anna, Ohio; six grandchildren, Julie Jones, Sam Schemmel, Mike Schemmel, Jim Baumer, Judi Stewart and John Baumer and seventeen great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchilren. Two sisters, Charlotte Fails, Adelide Weikert and three brothers, Cecil Crothers, Tom Crothers and Robert Crothers are deceased. She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and the Evening Grandmother's Club, Rosary Altar Sodality and graduated from Mt. Union College of Nursing, Alliance, Ohio. She had been a registered nurse at Wilson Memorial Hospital for many years and also worked at Dorothy Love Retirement Community. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 18, 2004 at 10:30 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Rev. James Reutter. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, Sidney, Ohio. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 17, 2004 from 6-8 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Angels Endowment Fund, 324 S. Ohio Ave., Sidney, Ohio 45365 in her memory or the American Heart Association in her memory. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.
