Harry Schemmel Obituary

Harry A. Schemmel, 91, Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Minster, Ohio, died at the nursing home on Sunday, March 20, 2005 at 5:35 AM. He was formerly of 823 Riverside Dr., Sidney, Ohio. He was born July 16, 1913 in McCartyville, Ohio the son of Henry and Elizabeth (Kuhlman) Schemmel. He married Jean R. Crothers on November 17, 1938 and she died August 14, 2004. Surviving are two children, Gene Schemmel and wife Karen of Oklahoma City, Oklahome and Sally Baumer and husband Stan of Anna, Ohio; six grandchildren, Julie Pope, Sam Schemmel, Jim Baumer, Judi Stewart, Mike Schemmel and John Baumer; 17 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. Six brothers are deceased, Bill, Edward, Raymond, Charles, Bernard and Norbert Schemmel. He was a good family man and a loving grandfather. He loved music, especially polka music. He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church. He was a member of the Sidney Boat Club. He had owned Surge Dairy Farm Equipment for 25 years and had worked for Schemmel Brothers Dairy at one time. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at 11:00 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Rev. James Reutter. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, Sidney. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sidney Boat Club, P.O. Box 66, Sidney, Ohio 45365. c/o Mike Kastner. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.
