Ethel McPherson Obituary

Ethel Grace (Lehman) McPherson, 93, 3003 W. Cisco Rd., Dorothy Love Retirement Community, Sidney, Ohio died at Dorothy Love on Saturday, May 31, 2003 at 5:00 AM. She was born September 18, 1909 in Canton, Ohio the daughter of Jay Edward and Martha (Wiandt) Lehman. She moved to Sidney in 1992 from Fairborn, Ohio. She lived in Okinawa, Japan from 1968-1973. She married in November of 1937 to Eugene Edward McPherson and he died in 1993. Surviving are three children, Joy A. Rickey and husband Fred of Cornwall, New York; Larry Eugene of Memphis, Tennessee; and Bonnie Jean McPherson of Tuscon, Arizona; two grandchildren, Ellen Joy Rickey of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Captain Timothy Samuel Tickey and wife Dr.Stephanie Rickey of Korea. Also surviving is one great-grandson, Timothy Samuel (TJ) Rickey of Korea and one sister, Martha Keyes of Dallas, Texas and one brother, J. Edward Lehman and sister-in-law, Mary Lehman of Newark, Ohio. Three brothers are deceased. She graduated from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio with a degree in education and was a teacher for 30 years in the elementary grade level in Newark, Ohio and Fairborn, Ohio. She was a member of Eastern Star and active in the Girl Scouts as a leader and trainer. She did alot of volunteer work at Dorothy Love. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Newark, Ohio. There are no calling hours. The body was cremated and a burial will be at a later date at Newark Memorial Gardens, Newark, Ohio.
