Charles Wren Obituary

Charles F. Wren, 81, 122 Oldham Ave., Sidney, Ohio, passed away at his residence on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 3:01 PM after an extended illness.   He was born December 15, 1932 in Bloom Center, Ohio, the son of Orville and Mary (Burkett) Wren and they are deceased.   He was married to Ann Louise Voress on June 14, 1952 and she survives along with two daughters, Rebecca (Ron) Partin of Hilliard, Ohio and Patricia (Craig) Henke of Woodville, Wisconsin and a son, Steven Wren of Sidney; thirteen grandchildren, Mark (Kylie) Wren, Melissa Thomas, Erin Partin, Christopher James (Ashley) Krueger, Corinne Marlow, Alexis Krueger, Donavan Krueger, Kaylee Marlow, Bram Henke, Grayson Henke, Sarah Wren, Zoe Henke, and Taylor Wren; four great granddaughters and two great grandsons; and two brothers, Burns Wren and wife Mary Lou of St. Mary’s and Gerald Wren and wife Bernie of DeGraff.  One son, Michael and one great-granddaughter are deceased.  Mr. Wren was a 1950 graduate of Lewistown High School, Lewistown.  He was United States Korean Air Force veteran.  He had worked for Chiles Tire Service in Sidney as a salesman, Pennzoil in Quincy, Ohio as a salesman and drove for Dial-A-Ride in Sidney for fifteen years.  He was very active in the Sidney American Legion where he was past commander and the Americanism chairman for the 2nd district.  He was also in the Singing Soldiers.  He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sidney.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Rev. Daniel Hess.  Cremation services will take place following the mass.  Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home in Sidney on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 from 6-8 PM.  An American Legion prayer service will be held at 7:45 PM at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Angels Catholic Church, 324 S. Ohio Ave., Sidney, Ohio  45365 or the Sidney American Legion, 1265 Fourth Ave., Sidney, Ohio  45365.  Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.  Condolences may be expressed to the Wren family on Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home’s web site at:  www.salm-mcgillandtangemanfh.com
