Betty Piatt Obituary

Betty J. Piatt, 83, 233 Helen Ct., Sidney, Ohio died on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 8:06 PM. She had resided with her grandson and granddaughter, Jim and Mara Roesser. She was born January 6, 1928 in Dayton, Ohio the daughter of Joseph and Marian (Bain) Weitzel and they are deceased. She moved to Shelby County in 1940 from Ft. Thomas, Kentucky. She was married on July 3, 1944 to Robert Dean Piatt Sr. and he died in 2006. Surviving are four sons, Robert D. Piatt Jr. of Georgia; Jim Piatt and wife Rose of Sidney, Ohio; Larry Piatt of Arizona and Ron Piatt of Anna, Ohio and two daughters, Mary Bales of Florida and Kathleen LaFramboise and husband Roger of Anna, Ohio; also surviving are 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great child. One daughter, Betty Jo Piatt; one granddaughter, Morgan Piatt and two sisters and one brother are deceased. She had been a nurse's aide at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Sidney and various other nursing homes in the area for many years. She was past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Sidney American Legion; member of the Sidney Eagles and the Sidney VFW. She had volunteered at the FISH organization in Sidney. She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and attended Full Gospel Community Church in Sidney. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home in Sidney with Pastor Charles Jarrett. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral on Monday, June 13, 2011 from 5-8 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Wilson Hospice, 1083 Fairington Dr., Sidney, Ohio 45365 or the Ladies Auxiliary of the Sidney American Legion, 1265 Fourth Ave., Sidney, Ohio 45365.
