Andrew Leroy Olson

Andrew Leroy Olson, 74, 734 Kathy Ave., Sidney, Ohio died at his residence on Monday, December 20, 2010. He was born September 8, 1936 in Winnebago County, Iowa the son of Andrew P. and Anna Loraine (Norheim) Olson and they are deceased. He was married to Patricia Walls on July 2, 1960 and she survives in Sidney along with two children, Todd Olson and wife Traci of Sidney and Susan Wion and husband Tony of Sidney; four grandchildren, Ryan McPeeks and wife Tabatha; Nicholas McPeeks; Tessa Olson and Tyler Olson; one step-granddaughter, Jenna Shaffer and two great-grandchildren, Jason Shaffer and Kennedy Shaffer; one sister, Mavis Lovik of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and one brother, James Olson and wife Connie of Richville, Minnesota. He was a 1954 graduate of Lake Mills High School in Lake Mills, Iowa and attended Waldorf College for two years in Forest City, Iowa and received his bachelor's degree in education from Mankato State College in Minnesota. He was a teacher in Shelby County schools starting at Fairlawn; then teaching at Jackson Center and then Fort Loramie Schools. He later worked in the maintainence department at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Sidney. He was a United States Army veteran serving in the Korean War from 1955-1957. He enjoyed fishing. He was a past member of St. Johns' Lutheran Church in Sidney. A private memorial will be held on Monday, December 27, 2010 at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home in Sidney.
