It's a tough day. I've lost the last remaining Marshall University teacher from my high school days, three guys who made an impact. Ken, Shearl, and Marlin were all my friends during and beyond SHS. Ken, Marlin, and I went to a number of Marshall football games. I fondly remember every journey to Huntington. We are fortunate that this trio chose Sidney. Today I recall Spanish class, a kind man, caring educator, and fine friend. !!! Arriba Senor Shamblin !!!

Dear Brenda and Family, how sorry I am to hear of Marlins' passing. He was such a loyal and dedicated man to all those who knew him and to the community he served so well for so many years. The students whose lives he influenced, are many, and they all speak of the impact he had on them. May you know and feel God's love and strength at this time. My thoughts and prayers embrace each of you at this time.

For members of the Shamblin family: Our deepest condolences in your loss of a husband, father and mentor of many students. It was a privilege to have this wonderful teacher cross our path in our life. He not only was my Spanish teacher but also my daughters when she went to high school. I know he left fond memories with us. God be with you all and prayers said for safe travel.

So very sorry to hear of Mr. Shamblin's passing. He was a kind, interesting man. I had him as a Spanish teacher for three years. He made class fun and enjoyable. He was also a neighbor and always had time to talk with you when you saw him somewhere. He will be missed:(

I am so very sorry to hear of the loss of Marlin Shamblin. There are no words to describe how much I admired and held in high esteem this wonderful man! He taught me so much about Spanish and gave me the opportunity to travel to Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico with his family and a group. He was my inspiration for becoming a Spanish teacher. What greater honor than to be awarded his position at Sidney High School in 1992, when he retired. He was such a fun person with such a keen sense of humor! I hold very dear and close the memories I have of my years as his student, apprentice and colleague. Much love to the Brenda, Lee, Wade and the whole family.

Dear Aunt Brenda and Family,

My prayers are with you all during this time. I'll always remember Marlin's laughter and his sense of humor, which I'm sure he inherited from his father (Pappy was born on April 1st you know). Uncle Marlin touched so many lives through Sidney H.S. and through the Methodist Church. I remember my dad's excitement after receiving another music cassette in the mail from Marlin (hi-tech music swapping back in the day). I'll always hold dear the memories of Thanksgiving, campouts and all of the crazy stuff that went down.
He always had time to tell a story or share a laugh or some interesting historical significance regarding our family. He will be greatly missed. Again my prayers are with you all.

Dear Brenda,

Steve and I are very sorry to hear of Marlin's passing. He was a such a sweet man, I enjoyed speaking to him on my walks with Rainey. He always greeted me with a smile and an interesting story to tell; and he was a great friend to Weyman and Buncie.
May God bless you and your family as you go through this difficult time.
