Larry James Phillis, 67, 321 S. Walnut St., Tiptonville, Tennessee, formerly of Houston, Ohio, passed away at his residence on Thursday, January 8, 2015. He was born on July 3, 1947 in Piqua, Ohio, the son of Clifford James and Laura (Davis) Phillis. His father preceded him in death. His mother survives in Hardin, Ohio. Survivors include his daughter, Jodie Lynn Cassidy and husband James of Sidney, Ohio and a step-daughter, Melanie Hasty and husband William of Monroe, Ohio and a brother Garry Phillis of Sidney, Ohio; three grandchildren, one niece and one nephew and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was a 1965 graduate of Houston High School in Houston, Ohio. He was a United States Navy veteran. He drove a semi-truck for many years. He was an avid hunter, loved to fish and make fishing lures and jigs, going to auctions and also portrayed a clown and made balloons for parties. He was of the Protestant faith and was a Methodist. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 11:30 AM at the Sidney American Legion, 1265 Fourth Ave., Sidney, Ohio. Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home in Sidney is handling the funeral arrangements.
